An Introduction - Projects and Speculations

November 27, 2005

Greetings.

I am not sure who is or will see this note. Basically this is an exploratory step. The Wild West wants to take advantage of the new technology and hopefully introduce the Wild West and the Rock and Roll Bands we work with to a larger audience. The Wild West is a promotion business I started earlier this year, bringing original Rock'n'Roll talent up to White Plains NY from NYC. There is also a nagging desire that continues to haunt me of bringing guitar virtuoso, Bernie Torme, who resides in the UK, for a small tour of the US.

In 2005, however, the Wild West put together four shows and worked with a range of acts from New York City. These inlcuded the likes of the Sex Slaves, Queen V, the New Professionals, Honor Among Thieves, Lourds and several others, all hailing from NYC. Sadly, however, we got the boot in October from the venue we were working with due to the high volume and the lack of draw. All I can say on both points, the loudness and the draw, is that we were only getting started! Never fear, though, the Wild West is still here and exploring a range of new ventures and projects!

This blog is one of those projects. The Wild West Blog will provide news and commentary on these bands, new talent we encounter in our trips to the Contnental, Don Hills, and elsewhere, plus some of the cultural and economic factors effecting the Westchester County and New York City music scenes. Imagine if you will rock'n'roll analysis. These thoughts and commentaries will make their way back to the Wild West, www.wildwest2004.com , but for now they will start on blogger.com. More importantly they will be available, via an RSS feed, right on the desktops of those who share our interest in local rock'n'roll talent in the NY metro area.

So, instead of having to go to the Wild West periodically, those into the NY music scene and who share our interests will be able to just sign into their desktop, their homepages, and these Wild West news and all will be right there. That is the beauty of blogging. . .

Not only will the Wild West offer commentary and news, but within the next week we hope to offer the first Wild West podcast featuring some of the talent, some of the bands, that have worked with the Wild West over the past few months. Right now we are sorting thru the technology aspects, and chasing after the bands asking for permission to use a song or two. We are hoping that at least with the first such podcast that we can just get a tentative ok from the bands. If this proceeds and the podcasts continue, we
are aware that copyright and licensing issues loom. Do note that all material, any and all songs or interviews, provided on the first such offering and any others that follow will have the blessing of the bands involved.

So there is much to do, not only corresponding with the bands but the technology. Either I have to get my Mac to 10.3 and figure out Garageband or look for comparable third party software. Then once we have the show recorded, then uploading it and getting it introduced to an RSS feed is the next step. All in good time. With a little work and a little luck you should see it shortly!

For those of you reading this far, I hope you enjoy and do stay in touch - drop me a note, check out the Wild West and the band sites! And I do promise, more will follow!
