slacking, thanksgiving and the web

Hope all are set for the Thanksgiving holiday! Over here it is the first one where my son is coming home from college. Looking forward to that; an actual homecoming to share. Something more than the usual occasion to eat and drink!

I have for the past few weeks just been laying low. No shows, no promotions, no bookings. It has been nice-a mini vacation. Did do the NY Marathon. Survived that but will go back next year and trim the time.

Mainly for the last few months, until early October, I was doing shows at Mr D's in Yonkers. We had three or four acts pretty much every week. We had some good nights but in the end it was not happening. So we wrapped it up. We had Warrior Soul at the Haunt. Four amazing acts that night but sadly no crowd.

So what is next? I keep saying to myself that the web is still the thing to watch. Newspapers are disappearing, TV is fading. Is anybody listening to the FM radio? More and more things are found on the web. To communicate today is to know how to use the web. So maybe that is what I am working on.

That is a piece of what I will be kicking around. Another piece is supporting acts that I like. Nothing new there. I have for the past few years been saying I wish the web was around back in the 80's when I was a long haired kid in a band. Well, I do think there is more than myspace, more than facebook. I want to find out what can be done on the web and tie that to the bands and acts I listen to and check out.

I went to Mr D's thinking that if I did something every week, we would build a following. Folks would come to know Thursdays are happening at Mr D's. I was wrong on that one. Various reasons, but in the end it just did not happen. Now I am going to focus on getting the word out on certain acts and shows using the web. We shall see where that goes.

In the meantime, have a great Thanksgiving and watch out for runners on the road-it might be me!
