A Special Thursday Night at Mr. D's in Yonkers
In June we killed Acoustic Sundays, and switched to Wednesday Nights. We had a decent first night with a good crowd but after that it got quieter and quieter. No doubt part of that was that the promoter was distracted with various other projects. Shit happens. That said, we did have some pretty cool acts passing through including Lani Ford, Fear the State, and Karen Curious and the New Professionals.
The original intention for Wednesday and what is now Thursday evenings was simple-bands-three or four bands, maybe Evenif each of those bands brought just a handful of folks out we would be good. Well after a month and a half we are just starting to find those bands and those folks. It was a simple formula but it took awhile to find bands willing to come and check us out. They had to check us out. See if we were legit, something.
All that said, the gods are smiling down on us this week. This week we have a very cool band, the Stoned. A band with a great name with a cool hard rock vibe. The Stoned lists Humble Pie as their first influence. How could they not have something going on. Further, the Stoned features Kory Clarke of Warrior Soul and something I just realized, Sebastian of Honor among Thieves playing bass for those of you who know NYC bands.
So this week we turn the corner with the Stoned. Who knows what is on the other side. No doubt it will be loud. Plus on top of the Stoned, we have the Peacock Flounders coming in from CT, Mystic Children coming in from Coney Island/ Brooklyn and Boy Behind a Wall, who continue their residency at Trainwreck for the month of July!
So if you are looking for something to do on Thursday night and are in the proximity of Yonkers, get your ass down to Mr D's located at 748 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10704.
Rock on!
