The Crusade Continues

For the past few years we have tried to develop an original music scene up here in Westchester County. We have had our moments. Way back in 2005 at the Vintage and more recently at the Haunt. Today there are a few venues that now and again will do such a show. And there is original talent in the area that would love to play to a hometown crowd.

Despite the FeastOfNoise.com's change of focus from music promotion to music news, we will continue to work on this. The crusade continues. We will be highlighting and encouraging venues that support original rock and punk acts. Likewise we will be hyping up bands and acts coming out of White Plains, Yonkers, and Westchester in general. We do want to be the place folks go to on the web to find bands and gigs in the area. In short, regardless of our change of course, our interest in original music and finding a place for it in Westchester is still very much part of who we are.

The music news site might just help the cause. Through the web, folks who may may have never pondered original music, much less, checking it out in there local town, will find us online and might just venture out and see and experience some of the acts we are pushing. Imagine that - people coming out to check out live music.

We shall have to see what happens, but we have not given up on the project of a live venue for original music in Westchester. For that matter, the Wild West has not given up on music promotion period.

Get Your Ass to the Bar-A Call to Arms. . .

What do you do on Wednesday night? Really, does much of anything happen on Wednesday night? Nothing. Well it does now!

Wednesday nights at Westchester Sports Bar and Grille is the night for original rock in Westchester. This includes new bands just starting out, established acts, and just some of the best talent that Westchester and New York have to offer. for good measure throw in an occasional National act, It is a simple idea, but so cool-rock out to something new and different. To make it happen, however, it needs everybody there, it needs everybody getting the word out!

If you are a musician in and around Westchester, if you are in a band writing and playing your own music, then you need to support these shows! Get in touch with us to play, but do not stop there-come and check out the scene. Support these gigs-come and have a beer, hang out, see what the other acts are doing. And help get the word out-tell your friends and fans about this place-about these Wednesday night shows.

There is no other place in Westchester where original music is played. Yeah, there might be a nook or cranny where an occasional act sets up for a night, but not every Wednesday. Not in a huge room with a good sound and light system.

The Wild West has been searching for such a venue for awhile and we are ecstatic about this place. That said, I know these shows are not guaranteed. The venue owner is going to watch the room, the crowd, and the receipts and act accordingly. Those into this scene need to claim it! If we don't show up and make this place our own-it will disappear. Have no doubt, this is a limited time offer and it will not last. If rockers, metalheads, punkers and all other riff raff in Westchester do not step up to the bar and come out on Wednesday nights for these shows, the venue will sure enough start having karaoke nights and cover bands, and we will have no one but ourselves to blame.

Come down this Wednesday, check out the two or three bands, hang out-take a break mid-week. And do spread the word-tell both your MySpace and regular friends. This is something different and deserves your attention.
